Dinner with the Authors: Whitney Scharer, Marjan Kamali, and Grace Talusan

Join us and The Silver Unicorn Bookstore for a unique celebration of food and fiction at Orange Door Kitchen. Novelist Marjan Kamali, memoirist Grace Talusan, and I will sit down with guests for a delicious meal inspired by our recently published works and then linger over coffee for book signing and more conversation.

Tickets include a copy of the novel of your choice plus non-alcoholic beverages and a four-course meal prepared by Orange Door Kitchen. All three novels and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Marjan Kamali, born in Turkey to Iranian parents, spent her childhood in Kenya, Germany, Turkey, Iran, and the United States. She studied English Literature at UC Berkeley and received her MBA from Columbia University and her MFA from New York University. Her work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and published in two anthologies: Tremors and Let Me Tell You Where I’ve Been. An excerpt from The Stationery Shop was published in Solstice Literary Magazine and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her debut novel Together Tea was a Massachusetts Book Award Finalist, an NPR WBUR Good Read, and a Target Emerging Author Selection. Together Tea has been translated into German, Italian, Norwegian, Czech and Slovak and was recently adapted for the stage. Marjan teaches writing at GrubStreet in Boston. She lives with her husband and two children in the Boston area.
Grace Talusan is author of the memoir, The Body Papers, winner of the 2017 Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing for Nonfiction. She was born in the Philippines and came to the US with her parents at age 2. She has published essays, longform journalism, fiction and book reviews in Brevity, Creative Nonfiction, Boston Magazine, Boston Globe, The Rumpus,and many others. She has degrees in English from Tufts University and the University of California, Irvine. Her writing has been supported by the Fulbright, Hedgbrook, Ragdale, the Massachusetts Cultural Council and others. She teaches writing at Tufts University and Grub Street.
